Meeting Speaker: Lelande Rehard, Planner, Mid Missouri Solid Waste Management District H

Lelande is the Manager for an eight county solid waste district that distributes grant funds for waste diversion and reduction projects. He works closely with the City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility and other municipal utilities. His presentation will focus on the bigger picture: market woes, how the recovered materials market works, policies, national trends, etc.

Come learn about the entire process from collection to manufacturing. Learn about the multiple issues plaguing the recycling industry. Learn about the newly formed Missouri Product Stewardship Council and how product stewardship policies and legislation can positively impact waste reduction.

Come with your questions too. We also asked him to talk about pay-as-you- throw options that might be available beyond single stream recycling roll carts.

    Questions? Just ask Carolyn.
